Everything you need to know about working with Dapple Grey Productions on your equestrian video project.
What types of equestrian video does Dapple Grey Productions produce?
We produce a wide range of equestrian video content, including full-length documentaries, short promotional films, broadcast inserts for live events and horse shows, highlight packages for competitions and festivals, and social media or website content for equestrian businesses. If it involves horses and a camera, we can help.
Do you work with small riding schools as well as large racing establishments?
Absolutely. Every stable yard has a story worth telling, whether you're a top-class racing yard or a small riding school with a loyal local following. We work with clients of all sizes and tailor each project to suit your budget, audience and goals. Some of our most moving work has come from smaller yards and charitable projects.
Where are you based, and do you film across the UK?
Dapple Grey Productions is a UK-based production company and we film on location across the country. We've worked at racing yards, studs, riding schools, event venues and competition arenas throughout the UK. If you're outside the UK, please get in touch — we may be able to help.
What experience does Dapple Grey Productions have in broadcast television?
Founder and director Clarissa Grey has more than fifteen years of experience producing equestrian content for major broadcasters. Her television credits include six series of FEI Ride (for Sunset and Vine), CNN's Winning Post, the Global Champions Tour, the Olympia International Horse Show, highlights of the NAL Jumping World Cup, Today at Burghley, and a series featuring three-day eventer William Fox-Pitt for British Eurosport and the British Olympic Association. DGP brings that broadcast-quality production expertise to every project, large or small.
How long does a promotional video take to produce?
Timescales vary depending on the scope of the project. A short promotional video for a yard or riding school typically takes two to four weeks from filming to final delivery, including editing and any revisions. Longer documentaries or broadcast features take more time to plan and produce. We'll agree a clear timeline with you at the outset, so you always know when to expect your finished film.
What is equine-assisted learning, and have you filmed it?
Equine-assisted learning (EAL) uses interaction with horses to support emotional, social and personal development, often for people facing health challenges, disabilities, or difficult life circumstances. We have filmed several powerful EAL stories, including a feature on Learning to Listen (an equine-assisted learning centre filmed for FEI Ride) and work at Calvert Trust stables in the Lake District. These are among the most rewarding projects we take on.
Can you produce content about rare or heritage horse breeds?
We have a particular love of rare and heritage breeds and have produced features on Highland Ponies (at Kinclune Stud), Knabstruppers, Suffolk Punches (with the Suffolk Punch Trust), and more. If you're working to preserve or promote a rare breed, we'd love to hear from you.
Do you produce content for equestrian charities and non-profits?
Yes. We have worked with charitable organisations using horses to support human wellbeing, and we understand the importance of telling those stories with sensitivity and authenticity. Please get in touch to discuss your project and we will do our best to find an approach that works for your organisation.
What do you need from me to get started?
Simply get in touch with a brief description of your project — what you'd like to film, who it's for, and any deadlines or events you have in mind. We'll have an initial conversation to understand your vision, and then provide a proposal outlining our approach, timeline and costs. There's no obligation at that stage, and we're always happy to talk things through informally first.
How do I contact Dapple Grey Productions?
